Case Study: How Replenishing Inventory by Pulling it thru the Supply Chain increases profits

About Us
In The Beginning
In the 90's Fruit of the Loom decided to move its sewing operations to Latin America, to take advantage of lower manufacturing costs.

The Problem
IDEA founder Tom DeMuth saw another side of this evolving picture. He was already familiar with Fruit, having served the company for years while with another company, traveling to many of their locations.  Tom knew that Fruit was unable to maintain raw material visibility in Latin America.

The Solution
The solution was a new company – IDEA (Innovative Distribution Ensuring Availability).  Tom presented a solution to Fruit of the Loom in 1998.

What intrigued Fruit was the flexibility IDEA offered.  Changes can be made within hours.  This quick turnaround was just what Fruit needed.  In October '99, IDEA was awarded a contract to provide warehouse management and delivery services for Fruit of the Loom.  IDEA established warehouse operations in South Carolina, Texas, Mexico, Honduras and El Salvador.

As news continues to spread of IDEA's inventory management and supply chain successes, more clients are boasting about not just inventory accuracy, also that their companies are thriving with far less inventory. This enthusiasm caused our international customers to rethink their domestic inventory management. IDEA evolved into a global solutions company providing inventory management, warehousing, shipping, fulfillment and distribution for both international and domestic clients.
